A guide to the various information resources available in the Lapp Learning Commons

Finding Books and eBooks

OneSearch is the Learning Commons' search platform that allows users to find any book or ebook available in the Learning Commons.

Book Delivery Service

Home delivery of books is available to current CTS students and faculty. Books in the circulating collection (depending on condition), I-Share items, and Interlibrary Loans can be shipped to your home. Lapp Learning Commons covers the cost of shipping library items to patrons, while patrons pay for return shipping. Library materials can be returned via USPS using the media mail rate.

How to Place a Mail Request

  1. Sign in to OneSearch
  2. Conduct your search.
  3. Find your item in OneSearch and click on view the details.
  4. Click the Request link.
  5. Select Mail by USPS from the Pickup Location drop-down menu
  6. Complete and submit the Request Form.

You will receive an automated email when the item has been checked in to the hold shelf.

When the item has been checked out to you, you will receive a second automated email confirming the item has been checked out to you and indicating the due date.

A third email will be sent by the Learning Commons fulfilling your request with a list of the items being shipped and a USPS tracking number for the package. The Learning Commons will use your current address in our system for shipping. If you would like your items sent elsewhere (like an office), either put a comment in your request from the catalog or email library@ctschicago.edu with that information.

To return library items...

Pack the item in a sturdy, secure box or padded envelope. If items are returned in damaged condition due to insufficient packing, you will be responsible for replacement costs. Mail items to:

Send an email to library@ctschicago.edu to alert the Learning Commons that your items are in route, and please include a tracking number. In the event there is an issue in the mail, this email and tracking number lets us know that you returned your items on time and in advance of the due date.

You will receive an automated email when your items have been successfully returned. Books borrowed with home delivery can also be returned in person at the circulation desk, if desired.

If you have any questions about the home delivery process, contact library@ctschicago.edu.
