The Anton T. Boisen Collection at CTS houses the publications, papers, unpublished articles, book reviews, mimeographed records, research data, case studies, and photographs created by Dr. Boisen during his lifetime (1876-1965). His major research area was mental health and religious experience. His work viewing patients in mental hospitals as "living human documents" made him a revered founder of the Clinical Pastoral Education movement that includes pastoral care, counseling, and psychotherapy. He wrote several books on clinical pastoral care, one of which was an autobiography detailing his own psychosis.
