CTS has a number of staff members who can help with the emotional needs of our community by providing pastoral care and support or assist in finding resources of care. Feel free to reach out to Min. Deneen Collins, the Director of Student Formation & Outreach and pastoral care provider. Rev. Dr. Tina Shelton, the registrar at CTS, or any of our Student Chaplains (coming soon!) are also available to help.
CTS has partnered with Khesed Wellness to provide 6 free mental health therapy sessions to referred students. Once students have completed their sessions, Khesed has free and affordable options to continue care as needed. These services are confidential and CTS will not have access to any information regarding participant use of these sessions, or anything they choose to discuss in session.
The Department of Online Learning has created a support hub for online technologies utilized at Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS). On the Student Resources link below, you will find guides and video resources for technology used for Online Learning at CTS.

The SGA is a student government organization consisting of up to nine elected or appointed representatives of the CTS student body. They serve as liaisons and advocates for the student body to the faculty and administration. They serve on the Academic Council and represent the students to the Board of Trustees.
Feel free to reach out to your Student Reps with any questions, concerns or suggestions.
Digitized Cohorts
CTS Student Representatives would like to invite everyone to be part of a digitized cohort (group chats via text) to further each student's individual and unique goals, aspirations, and academic development. The goal of the cohorts is to allow students to use one another as resources. Whether it's getting feedback on an assignment, sharing productivity and time management tips, or simply brainstorm ideas the group chat can serve as a place for students to offer support.
Students interested in joining a cohort intended to further their academic resources through digital and flexible connections with other students can email Casey Kasperson (he/him) or call at 480-938-8819 if they are interested.
Emergency Financial Assistance
CTS believes in supporting its students in times of need and personal emergencies. For this purpose, the student emergency grant fund has been established to enable eligible students to potentially receive a grant to reimburse emergency expenses. The document in the link below defines the scope of the policy, eligibility, payment terms, etc. of any grants that are awarded.
Interest-free Loans for Bayan students
Bayan students at CTS can apply for no-interest loans from A Continuous Charity. A loan may be approved for the 2025-26 academic year.
A variety of services, tools, and resources are available to CTS students, faculty, and community members to ensure that everyone has access to our collections and material.
You can petition CTS for disability accommodations by reviewing the CTS Academic Accommodations Policy, and using the CTS Accommodations Application Form. This accommodation form does list possible options that you may request. Once you submit the CTS Accommodations Application Form you will receive an institutionally-approved accommodation document from CTS. It may be helpful if students and professors then communicate and collaborate on how to develop the best access to course content and material according to student need.
Please email Min. Deneen Collins or Rev. Dr. Tina Shelton for additional information.
