Morgan Model Collection

Come check out the Morgan Model Collection exhibit in the Lapp Learning Commons.

The collection features seven model replicas of sacred spaces in the Chicagoland area including KAM Isaiah Israel Synagogue in Hyde Park and the Unity Temple in Oak Park designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Suzanne Morgan, founder of Sacred Space International, is an architect and self-described “sacred space ambassador” who developed this exhibit in order to promote interfaith communication. The seven models make it easy to see the beautiful diversity as well as the many commonalities in how various religious traditions configure their sacred spaces. The collection has previously been on exhibit at the National Hellenic Museum in Chicago, the Chicago History Museum, North Park University, the University of Akron in Ohio and Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago. The Learning Commons has become the semi-permanent home for these architectural models when they’re not on exhibit elsewhere.

The collection offers a great opportunity to engage the wider community to come to CTS for an inaugural event and explore the intersection of sacred and community spaces in various religious traditions. A more formal inaugural event will be planned for Fall 2018.
